The staff was super friendly. Everyone from the bartenders, massage ladies, front desk workers to the sand sweepers were nice and always tried to make us smile. We slept in hammocks for hours, zip-lined through jungle, took 2-man boats out on the water and had an all around great time. They even let us use fishing poles (free) and shrimp for bait. A wonderful experience!!
Amazing! Can’t wait to go back!

From the moment the van picked us up in Dangriga, we knew we made the right choice. Our plane from Belize City was an hour early so we expected to wait at the airport in Dangriga for quite some time. That wasn’t the case. The Jaguar Reef was notified of our early arrival and the van left Hopkins right away to pick us up. The driver even apologized for being late. Late?! We were early! On the way to the resort he shared so much about the country and what we were seeing along the way. Once we arrived the experience got even better. We were greeted immediately by Mary Ann, who was wonderful. The bartender had drinks in our hands within minutes. Once we checked in, Mary Ann gave us a tour of the resort and provided answers to all of our questions. Our bags were waiting in our rooms once our tour was over and we were ready to start a great vacation. The rooms do need some updating, but they are very clean and provide a lot of space. The pools are well taken care of. They prepare the pool areas and beach every morning so that each day’s experience is as good as the last. The tour guides are so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The entire staff is amazing. The people of Hopkins are so friendly. We always felt safe in the resort, in town and on our tours. Even though the resort is wonderful, take the opportunity to go into town on the free bikes the resort provides or in one of the golf carts available for rent. Venture down the beach a bit and try out some of the other restaurants.

The casitas are big, very clean. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The location is great. The hotel has private beach and 2 swimming pools, spa. Jaguar Reef shares facilities with Almond Beach. The food at the restaurant is good, a little expensive. I stayed there with my boyfriend in the beginning of May for two nights but we wished we could have stayed longer. Hopkins in general is a very nice location to visit.

This place is amazing, the staff is so friendly and the rooms are big and exotic. The air-conditioning is cold, the showers are huge! We stayed five days and can’t wait to go back. The front desk staff set up our snorkeling, ruins, and zip line tours, and we couldn’t be more pleased with our experience!

What a great experience!!! Everything about the resort was very enjoyable. Our party of five were greated by name by all of the staff that we interacted with on a regular basis. Requests for maintenance or assistance were acted upon very swiftly. A special shout out to “Big Baby”, Swift, Alfonso, and Craig! The rooms were comfortable and the Air Conditioning in the rooms was great. We took the inclusive food plan and didn’t even bother going to eat anyplace else. The guests were mostly couples and small families. the lodge has two pools, so the kids can yell and splash in the one pool while the adults can relax in the swim up bar pool, which has a great view of the beach and ocean. There was a lot of reviews that mentioned using the lodge bikes or a rented golf cart to get into Hopkins a mile and a half or so away…but we recommend paying $2.50 a person and just having the lodge staff drive you to town. When dealing with your bags at the Belize City airport watch out for the “sky caps” if you don’t want to pay out $1.00 a bag to have your bags moved 200 feet.

Had a great Honeymoon here at Jaguar Reef. Some great diving if you take a short walk down the beach to Hamanasi’s dive shop. Good food, great spa, friendly service. We had one night that it rained and when it rains the ants find their way in the in. We went to the front desk and they immediately came and sprayed for ants and cleaned the room to get rid of them. Other than that one hiccup everything was spectacular.

All the lovely people at Jaguar Reef Lodge helped me enjoy the vacation of a lifetime! My room was beautiful and clean and the air conditioning kept it cool, cool, cool- always a relief after the warmth of my outside activities. A beautiful setting, the front desk accommodated all my unusual requests with a smile, Abner and Richard took great care of me at the bar, and all the waitstaff were friendly. Everyone always greeting me with a smile, and a “hey Miss Anne!” As they passed by. The tours they arranged were excellent as well. Gabriel and Charlton gave me birding tours that were so much better than I had hoped they could be- both so knowledgable and enthusiastic.
I hope to return to Hopkins soon and I would definitely stay there again. Thanks to everyone for making my stay so memorable.

We had the MOST wonderful honeymoon! Corinna – Marissa – Gilbert – Richard – EVERYONE was absolutely awesome! We did the Ultimate Honeymoon package – all food, adventures, and most of the drinks were included – even spa stuff! The food was delicious – dinner on our veranda – everything! We are DEFINITELY coming back to Jaguar Reef – but we’ll bring our 8 yr old next time. The guides were great and informative, definitely get a golf cart for a day! After all we did – we paid $127, and only because my husband had to have Captain Morgan shots! All tropical drinks were included! BEST PLACE EVER!
Feels like a little paradise!

Jaguar Reef was a great place to stay. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was great. The snorkeling trip was amazing with great guides! The zip line as well. Be sure to take a golf cart into town. That was so fun, although a bit of a rough road! Great trip!

Like Maria C., we stumbled upon this resort via Living Social. Funny, we were there the same time but in room 9. What an amazing value. The rooms were nicely appointed and very comfortable. The bathroom was really large and very well lit, something that is near to my heart! We too worked with Evelyn via email and phone when we needed to modify our stay. Very, very accomodating and flexible! I don’t know what the staff to guest ratio was but it had to be something in the stratosphere. There were always many staff member tending to the grounds, pool, beach, rooms, and every area of the resort. There are not too many dining options in Hopkins but we did not feel the need to go anywhere else. The restaurant staff was amazing (we especially want to thank Big Baby). The food was very well prepared and very, very good! There were so many menu choices that we did’t feel as though we were having all of our meals in the same place (and I’m a picky eater). Additionally, the prices were more than reasonable, a great value. We enjoyed pre and post dinner cocktails at the bar with the stellar bartender, Richard. Thank you Richard!!! Although there were several excursions, we chose the day long trip to the Mayan ruins that bordered Guatemala. Our guide, Manuel, was of Mayan descent, and made our trip an absolute delight. Just a little advice, if you get carsick (which I don’t), you may want to stay away from day-long trips as the roads are very, very bumpy and the rides are not the most comfortable–not the fault of the transportation, just the roads themselves. The only aspect of our trip that was less than perfect was the fact that there was some confusion regarding our return transfer. More advice: make sure that you confirm your return transfers more than one time. The good news was that in the end, it all turned out just fine. As an aside, the short flight from Belize City to Dangriga was a great choice and well worth the very inexpensive fare. We so enjoyed every minute at Jaguar Reef and would definitely return.

My wife and I recently returned from our honeymoon in Belize. We spent a week at jaguar Reef and we could not have been more impressed. The resort is beautiful and well laid out. The rooms are spacious and clean with incredible views. The food is delicious and the drinks are excellent. The local area is very safe and had plenty to offer as well.
From the moment we arrived, staff went out of their way to make our stay more enjoyable. Cortina the manager was fantastic. Everything from medical aid to honeymoon champagne to a surprise decorated room(thanks Georgie and the others too) for my birthday was given to add to our fun. The wait staff are amazing as well. Craig went above and beyond several times. He even had a pizza special made one night for me. Felicia was great as well. She even arranged for the cooks to make breakfast one day for us after we’d missed it. Thanks to the cooks for that as well. And for making a special personalized birthday cake as a surprise. King rocks. The bartenders are awesome people and provide great service, especially Abner. He was very concerned about the overall guest experience and made people relax and enjoy themselves. Thelma, Ashley and Byron also helped us out several times and were just really good people. The security staff go above and beyond to make guests feel safe. It was a pleasure to meet and get to know Felix. He made sure several times that I had safe rides when coming to and leaving the resort and did everything he could to make sure all guests were taken care of. He is very good at his job. Edwin is always around looking out for guests and ready to help. They both snuck up on me several times. Haha. Great late night chats too.
This is honestly the best pace my wife and I have ever been to and we can’t wait to get back.

We just got back from an 8 day stay at Jaguar Reef Lodge in Hopkins Village. We had an amazing 8 days and were sad to leave. If you’re looking for a small town feel, with lots of adventure and relaxation, Jaguar Reef and Hopkins is perfect.
What really stood out about Jaguar Reef was the service and the staff. By the end of our stay we knew most of them by name, and they knew us too. From the moment we arrived Ashley, and Shaun were incredibly informative and welcoming at the front desk. They had information about all the tours and adventures we were interested in, and did their best to help us schedule everything we wanted to do into our 8 days. Robert and Marissa were also at the front desk throughout the week and provided excellent information, recommendations and service.
We purchased a package that included all meals at Jaguar Reef, so we ate most of our meals there. While the food was hit or miss, we were more than impressed with the friendliness of the wait staff. They always greeted us by name and provided great service. Leibi, Felicia, Jorge and Michele were particularly friendly and helpful throughout our visit.
Richard at the bar was awesome and gave us some great tips for tours.
We snorkeled 3 times while at Jaguar and loved Nick, Saldana, Terri, Beggi and Denton! They were very knowledgeable about the marine life and were great guides in the water.
Georgy and Byron were always friendly and helpful.
Felix and Manny were also some great drivers that gave us great info on our rides to town to to different adventure locations.
Thank you to everyone at Jaguar Reef for the most amazing vacation!
PS- I really recommend the ATM Cave tour!

I came to Belize with my family on vacation over Thanksgiving break a few years ago. I don’t have enough nice things to say about the hotel, resort, packages and trip overall.
First of all, our room were great. We’re a family of five and got our own “townhouse” on the second floor. Was a little freaked out at first because there are lizards everywhere in Belize, but you get use to it. So clean, and a beautiful view of the beach.
Secondly, the staff was so friendly. We were sitting on the beach one day and a man who worked there came by and threw rocks up a coconut tree to knock them down for us! Then he split them open so we could drink from them.
The food is great! I was a vegetarian at the time and they made plenty of accommodations for me.
We had plenty of activities – zip lining, riding horses, snorkeling, tubing .. these were outside the resort, of course, but within the resort we were able to borrow golf carts or bikes to ride into town and take out a little sailboat among other things.
I came in November, and every morning it was sunny and warm until the afternoon, when there’d be some drizzle – and I remember a few times over the week we were there it would pour by dinner. But I didn’t mind the weather! It didn’t ruin our mood or activities.
Also while we were there a wedding took place. It was beautiful, right on the beach and everyone at the resort got on their balconies to watch and cheered when they were married – it made me want to get married abroad.
I’m dying to come back here!

Well worth investing the time to get there. Very relaxed not a lot of activity appreciated the adult only pool after 4 pm. Staff unobtrusive but friendly and helpful. Zip line tour great. Jaguar jungle tour a waste of time. Only saw ants….wow. Mr swift at the bar can make anything. Rooms nice and air condition works well. Take advantage of the free bikes and ride a short distance to town. It was a great place for our family vacation

We just spent a week with the lovely folks at Jaguar Reef Lodge and I couldn’t have asked for a better vacation. The staff and management were amazing. The beaches were pristine. My favorite part was the swim up pool bar. The bartenders were very entertaining and always coming up with new ideas and drinks for us. The event night, BBQ on the beach was fantastic!
We cannot wait for our return to this country and to do it all over again!!!

We three adults stayed four nights in Orchid, a two bedroom two bath cabana by the “children’s pool”. Large, well laid out space. Staff is wonderful and variety of things to do in the Hopkins area is huge – we took excursions to the Jaguar preserve, Sittee River for bird watching and Xunantunich. Restaurant is beautiful, relaxed atmosphere. One hour massage at the Butterfly Spa was excellent. Honestly, we were a little disappointed in our “luxury” resort in Ambergris after the enjoying Jaguar so much. A HUGE storm knocked the power out for… 30 seconds! I was impressed.
