Tour Itinerary
We depart after lunch for the Sittee River Marina where we will begin our journey. The Sittee River is one of the largest and deepest rivers in Belize and along with South Stann Creek provides most of the drainage for the nearby Maya Mountains, including the Cockscomb Basin ( Jaguar Preserve ).
This river is nearly pristine and is home to many types of wildlife. Your guide will tour you slowly up the river past Sittee River Village which is the site of the 17th centure Surpon Sugar Mill ( ruins ) and will point out to you many of the rivers inhabitants which include Crocodiles, Iguanas, Bats, Manatee, Otters and over 300 species of birds including Toucans, Parrots, Parakeets and Ibis, to name but a few!
